Course Description:

This is an in-person course geared to professionals working and/or interested in the Geneva global health space, offered by the International Geneva Global Health Platform. It offers an introduction to the New Diplomacy of Global Health, providing insight and perspectives into what is at stake in global health after the COVID-19 crisis, and in light of emerging geopolitical faultlines, biotechnological and financial developments and controversies, and the move to decolonise global health. Together with recent events, diplomacy is even more essential for global health. For professionals new to Geneva and/or global health, it offers the practical knowledge they need to successfully navigate International Geneva’s global health space. More seasoned practitioners will be able to update their knowledge of contemporary issues. The course will also offer invaluable networking opportunities for participants.

The course will be taught by faculty from the Geneva Graduate Institute and other leading subject matter experts.

Course Details

  • The course is primarily aimed at global health stakeholders based in Geneva, however, applications from outside Switzerland are welcome. Participants traveling from outside Geneva must cover their own travel and accommodation costs.
  • There is no course fee.
  • The course will be conducted in English.
  • The course will take place in person at the Geneva Graduate Institute over three half days: from 23 to 25 June 2025, 13:00-18:00 CEST (total 15 hours).
  • Participants are expected to attend all 3 days of the course in order to receive a Certificate of Course Completion issued by the Global Health Centre.
  • Deadline to Apply: Sunday 6 April 2025 (23:45 CEST).
  • Applicants will be notified of the result of the selection process by the end of April.

 

Application requirements:

  • A short statement of motivation: Explain your motivation for participating in this course, and how you expect the course to contribute to your work: Maximum 300 words.
  • Information on your recent professional and/or educational experiences.
  • The name and contact information for one professional reference.
  • Your profile picture and short biography.

Applications will be selected based on the following criteria

  • Strength of the statement of motivation;
  • At least one relevant work experience with work responsibilities pertaining to Global Health and/or participation in policy-making negotiations;
  • Ability to participate in the course fully and in person;
  • Regional, organisational and gender diversity.
